Our mama cat, Hazy, has been inside sleeping on this lazy, rainy day. She was asleep on the couch and started sneezing. I was getting clothes out of the wash and I hear Chloe Jo say "Shut Up" in the next room. I went in the living room and asked, "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" She looks at me and immediately replies, "Shut Up".
I told her that we do not say that word...that it is nasty and not nice. It is a dirty word. I even threw in the talk about not having friends if you say ugly things...and then some more...
She says to me..."Mama.....HAZY told me to shut up.

I need to go grade papers...
UPCOMING PARTY WEEKEND...
I have been so busy getting things together for Chloe Jo's big birthday bash this weekend...and trying to prepare lessons so I can teach school. This is one time a year I really try to get my house in order! It is so hard to believe that she will be turning "3"! This year our theme is Charlotte's Web...it is all in my head and currently I am stressing myself out trying to put it all together. I will be posting pics from the party of course. stay tuned in...
The other day I was cleaning in Chloe Jo's room and found her "people" all gathered around the TV holding hands...I have no idea why this is so funny to me:) I literally laughed out loud just imagining what she was doing with all of them and why she always involves her television...

It really is true...simple things amuse me. ha
CLEANING HOUSE PLANNED...
As if there isn't enough to clean around here...now I have crayons stuck between every brick on the fireplace. This was only the beginning of her creative masterpiece...she put EVERY CRAYON in the bricks...this kept her busy for a long while:)
Guess I have put it off long enough...going to grade papers...good night, friends:)

Hoping for a great week at work...
This past week was pretty tough...especially on Thursday. I guess my luck just ran out...no kidding...I got up like normal at 5:15 ready to start my day...drank a little Diet Coke to wash down my blood pressure meds...got out the ironing board and plugged up the iron...checked Facebook and preheated the oven...all these are my morning rituals. Picked out my clothes and Chloe Jo's outfit for the day...watered my flowers...washed my hair...brushed my teeth...went back to iron my clothes...the iron would not work.
Since I am not one to iron anything days before I plan to wear my clothing, I was forced to wear wrinkled pants...they had a little dryer time to knock the major creases out of them. But, if you were wondering why my pants were so wrinkled at school...that is why.
On my way to school...I had a flat tire in McKenzie...which just happens to be where my mother lives...only she went to visit my sister JoMeagan in Memphis so she was not home when I called to get her to help me. SO, I called David to leave work to come help me.
He tells me to unhook the carseat and have it ready to put in his truck. I just happen to have a 2 year old who is very patient. She is yelling "Mama, get me outta this car!" I am pulled over at the Baptist Church off the four lane trying to unhook fourteen fasteners...waiting on David to fix my tire...while I am wearing my even more wrinkled clothes because the iron would not work.
So I am crying...Chloe Jo is crying...I'm wearing my wrinkled pants...waiting for David to get there...he gets there and puts air in the tire...we swap vehicles so I can get to work on time...but that means I had to drive the "Duckmobile" in my even more wrinkled pants to work...with my frazzled hair from trying to unhook the carseat...but I manage to get Chloe Jo dropped off...and I get to work on time.
I went down to get a Diet Coke to try and get myself together before the kids get there. And would you believe it???? I actually got a paper cut and had to wear a big bandaid with my even more wrinkled pants and frazzled hair in the duckmobile on the way home that afternoon! ha
So, I bought me a new iron and a 6-pack of Diet Coke...but I am still not ironing until in the morning. Have a great week, friends:)

just need to talk...
I'VE HELD IT IN AS LONG AS I CAN...
I can tell you that I am loving that I have an opportunity to work with teachers that I had back in Middle School...we called it Jr. High, though. I truly cherish veteran teachers. You cannot buy their experience in a book or hear about how to have it in Inservice...there is just something about a veteran teacher and their wisdom...I try to surround myself with them:) The feel of the school is because of them...and would not be the same without them. IF you teach, you know what I am talking about. ha
I love the way they know what to overlook...the way they assert themselves with nonsense that goes on. I love that if you ever wonder who someone is...they know...because they had their mama and daddy. I love the way they don't sweat the small stuff...usually. I had one tell me the other day that they were a little concerned about me because I was old school...like them. (meaning...I believe sometimes kids need a paddling instead of a Jolly Rancher ) I consider myself extremely fortunate because I learned from the best veterans at Dresden Elementary and Gleason School, when I first started teaching, and then at Martin Primary. I just expect kids to act right.
Time has passed quickly...I'm not the new girl on the block, really. I have hit mid-career point. I have been teaching for 15 years. wow.
All this being said, the way things are at all schools now...I expect to see more veteran teachers pack it up and go to the house. The new evaluation model is discouraging...pressures to teach more when the kids are struggling to grasp all that we throw at them now. This is all just too much. We are told to shoot to be average and that reaching the highest mark is unattainable for any of us.
I am praying for all teachers more now than ever. Many are in crisis mode. The state needs to let us breathe...sometimes things are just out of our hands as teachers. I decided that all I can do is my best. I just hope my veteran friends will hang on...and hopefully some of this will blow over.
For all you older and wiser teacher friends and family...thank you for all you have taught me. I will always cherish my time working with you. You are each a treasure to me:)

It's beginning to look a little like fall around here...
DECORATING TODAY...
Well, It is that time of year for me:) Time to bring out the scarecrows and turn on the spotlight...showcasing my new door decor. I absolutely love Halloween decorations so I had to put out a few small ones just because it makes me happy! With all of this going on outside and the smell of a Harvest Yankee Candle when you step in the door...YES, I am ecstatic. Enjoy a little fall preview...more to come.
AUNT RENEIGH'S LATEST DOLLAR GENERAL TREASURE...
Friends, my Aunt Reneigh frequents Dollar General and always finds the cutest stuff! I purchased some for myself. Perfect for Jello Jigglers for your little ones for Halloween. An easy and yummy treat for parties:) I cannot wait to use them. We did stars on the 4th of July and Chloe Jo loved them. Thanks Nay for finding great deals.
GRANDPARENT'S DAY...
Spent a little time out at Grangy and Papa's today. Chloe Jo had made a card for them at WeeCare and so we went for a short visit. I snapped a few shots of their backyard. WOW! Despite the rain showers we had a little Ranger time and swing time...We love Grangy and Papa so much!
They have a new doggy friend...we named him Ralph. He will not come up to Papa yet but give it time. He is the stray animal whisperer. ha
Ralph needs to rethink walking in the middle of the road...
WILSON FROM CASTAWAY with TOM HANKS...The fact that my daughter likes to drive her ball around in her Barbie Jeep totally made me sad a little for her today. All I could think about was Wilson in the movie Castaway...just saying. But, I do not feel so sad that I will have another child. She better hang on to him. ha
