I'm telling you, friends...I do some crazy stuff. The funny part about this is no one has breathed a word about IT! It has taken me, what...four days to realize what I did...but it all came to me like a billboard on the side of the road this afternoon!!!
I went to the bathroom when I got home from school and looked up and saw IT hanging on the back of the door. It was a moment for me...one of those OH MY GOSH moments. There hanging on the doorknob was my BIG OLE "BRAWL"!!!!
Then it hits me...it was hanging there SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE ROBOT PARTY!!!! Then, uncontrollable laughter hits as I envision my nephew Tanner being an eye witness...and even better than that...my sister Micki's husband, STEVE...and then I begin wondering who else saw it???
You know, I will tell you the honest truth...it is not a big deal to some folks. But this isn't a regular bra...it has major reinforcements! ha IT is what you would call atypical...and certainly to a young boy...not what they want to witness at their cousin's house! Not only that...I just don't want to put folks through that whole awkward scene! ha
So, what do I do??? I send out a text message to my sisters and my aunt, Nay. It reads: SO....I just realized MY BIG OLE BRA was hanging on the doorknob in bathroom at Valentine party! Why didn't anyone tell me? Guess that was a moment for everyone. GAH!
Micki's response: I never saw it! promise
Nay's response: I did not use the bathroom so i missed that one ha
JoMeagan's response: Hahaha. I went in there late in the night and saw it. Figured it was too late to matter at that point
My response to JoMeagan: I am going to kill you.
A few hours later I text Micki back: ok...did you ask tanner and steve about the "Brawl"? ha
Micki's response: No but i asked Steve 2 read this msg 4 me and tell me what it said since i am getn supper ready. he said brawl? brawl?...is she talkn bout the bra on the back of the bathroom door... he said he got his ring caught n it by mistake trying to shut the door...sorry the late response i am laughing so hard! BAWHHahahahaha!!
The reason this gets me...I even cleaned my refrigerator shelves for this party night. I dusted my sofa table...I made a huge effort to get everything just right! It seemed like everyone was having a blast...but I can't help thinking that they were privately laughing because of the biggest Valentine secret of the night...the sight in the bathroom! Good. Grief.
I have given myself a headache from laughter this evening...this is one of those things that will hit me months from now and I will laugh til I cry again...and David says it's not even that funny. It could be one of those "had to be there" episodes...and I'm kinda glad you all weren't.
Hope you are having a great week, friends.

Hard to believe...when did I get old enough to be 38??
I was so busy this weekend that I didn't really have time to think about what really was happening...growing another year older. It is crazy for me to think about being my age...I honestly do not feel like it is possible. ha
I will just go ahead and say, it was really tough...NOT getting that birthday card in the mailbox with my birthday money this year from MamaBill. That may not sound the way I intend for it to come across, but there are just those little things that happen in our lives that no one else would even think is a big deal, probably. I must admit...I loved it because sometimes it just feels good to still be a kid!
If you know anything about me...you know I love getting real mail. I love pretty, handwritten note cards from the mailbox. I love personalized note cards and stationery sets...address labels and stickers...I especially like the ones that say MY NAME! (I get this from my mother.)
I love looking at another person's penmanship...you get a feel of their hands writing to you as you read. The love and thought going into the words on paper...and sometimes very telling of a grandmother's unsteady hand from hard-work over the years. Grandmother and MamaBill always wrote in cursive. DaddyDoyle in Capital letters...but he and MamaBill were lefties. My mother and aunts mostly print their words in very neat print. My Aunt Ann underlines everything in her cards. (this will only be funny to my family) My siblings all write small and very neat.
Maybe no one even thinks about these things...but I do.
All of this being said, I am amazed by all the Happy Birthday wishes from friends and family. SOOO many happy notes and posts on Facebook...phone calls...text messages...and actual cards through the US MAIL from friends...and the yummiest chocolate pie you could ever put in your mouth from Amy and Jeremy Douglas:) I even got a new RED KitchenAid mixer from my husband! woohoo!
I am reminded of how much I am loved and also about happy things that made my birthday special before I turned thirty-eight.
This is a new year. My hope for this year is to do a better job of telling people in my life how much I love them. Thanks for loving me, friends! It was a great birthday:)

The robot party was LOTS OF FUN...whew I'm ready for bed!
I absolutely love when my family does things out of the ordinary. This Valentine's party was one for the record books. I heard something once about giving people things...something about giving people experiences instead. Take a look at what my family can do...they are so much fun!

Decorations....

So, the robot cake was lots of fun to make. JoMeagan and I had a little help from Mother but did most of it ourselves. I just kept reassuring my PERFECTIONIST sister...it didn't have to be perfect because it was for kids! It was worth the trouble:)

So, Aunt JoMeagan helped get Chloe Jo dressed up for the party...I was thinking pigtails with the ribbon but Aunt JoMeagan is sooo cool she had fun with it. Needless to say, the headband stayed in all night! ha

Aunt Teen was quite the robot helper tonight!

Uncle Steve helping Chloe Jo and Maria with their robot.
AWESOME...Wishing BUB and family and Uncle Wes were here tonight.
My first iron-on t-shirts...couldn't figure out how to make letters mirror image so I didn't put names on them. Turned out cute anyway, I think!
A big hit...all gone!

Aunt Micki made these toothpicks from Valentine cards she found at Dollar General!!!! Her Cornbread was so tasty with the Chili Dawgs...sandwiches and snacks!
AND NOW TO THE MAJOR STUFF>>>ROBOT COMPETITION... WE MADE ROBOTS FROM JUNK. MY FAMILY IS SO CREATIVE.

NOTHING LIKE A CALM, STRESS-FREE NIGHT AT HOME....
I'M JUST NOT RIGHT, I GUESS...
I rushed home this afternoon to cook poppy seed chicken, baked potatoes, corn, and rolls. Anyone who knows me very well, already knows that Misty really does not love cooking supper. In fact, I usually don't...especially with David gone as much as he is during the winter.
I have literally worked my "bootah" (as Chloe Jo calls it) off this year at school. So, supper is the last thing I feel pressed to do, but I make an attempt twice a week and DO IT BIG...so there are leftovers:)
It's probably not right for me to laugh, but my husband and his tolerance level when things mechanically go wrong...is over the top. The crazy thing is...my door has never been fixed, so I have been cooking this whole time without a glass piece on the inside of my oven from when the glass shattered back months ago!
Tonight, when I had just put Poppy seed chicken in the oven...poof. The breaker trips and the oven malfunctions. I bet you could hear the breathing at your house! ha Parts break, ya know.
I am frantically searching for the user manual (yes, I keep that stuff) and in the background I hear David frantically pushing the buttons on the stove. BEEP>>>BEEP>>>BEEPBEEPBEEP>>>>BEEPBEEP
I begin reading...<trying to get David to stop pushing the buttons and listen>...if it is beeping and flashing F1, turn the unit off and WAIT 30 seconds...BEEP>>>BEEPP>>>>BEEPBEEPBEEP>>>ummm...WAIT 30 seconds...BEEPBEEPBEEP>>>BEEPBEEP>>>DAAAVVVID, IT SAYS WAIT 30 SECONDS! <in my calm but living on the edge voice>
All of this happening and Chloe Jo is yelling in the background...MAMA...I WANT SOME JUICE!
Seriously! Hope your night is kitchen free, friends. This cooking thing is just not worth it. ha

Do it BIG....right?...
NO SHAME...
I could be classified as a procrastinator. I like to think of myself as one who works better under pressure. I must admit, lately, I have prepared for the next day at school and then gone to the house. I cannot seem to get ahead because my brain stays in overload of all the bright ideas I come up with at the last minute, right? ha
Or, could it be that my surprise evaluation is coming up and I want everything to be just right? I have always taken my job seriously...I really want to do well everyday. You know, I really want everyone to do well...but I'll be honest...folks are in a tizzy around HMS because the unannounced evals started Monday...and we all want to really have it together when our "moment" arrives.
Sooo...I bought some "red" Fruit Roll Ups...and I will have one on my desk when that moment comes...for my principal. I'm no fool:)
Take note, ladies...I heard him say they were his favorite.
Don't hate.
I LIKE U A WHOLE BOT...
I have a new exciting thing to add to my favorite things...IRON-ON TRANSFER PAPER! I made some pretty cute valentine robot t-shirts for my nieces and nephews and for Chloe Jo:) I will wait and post pictures of everything after the party.
Our crafts are going to be "off the chain"! We are going to make robots with junk. My family is usually pretty creative so I cannot wait to see what the party will bring. Certainly great memories! We are having crafts, food, goody bags, and a movie... (WALL-E)!
I absolutely love doing this kind of stuff. I found the cutest robot stuff at Target and Hobby Lobby...my theme is "NUTS AND BOLTS ABOUT YOU":) Chloe Jo is super excited...especially about the lollipops!
Hope you are sitting down for this news... I am thinking about making a robot cake (with JoMeagan but she doesn't know this yet)! Usually my mother does the cake making...so, this could get interesting. The picture below is my inspiration but I have plans of changing a little bit of the candy to be more Valentine friendly...and the icing is going to be cream cheese...and if it looks terrible...I will throw it away and make pictures of the cute cupcakes we had from Wal-Mart. haha
THE BIGGEST NEWS IS...I may even dust the sofa table. haha

Find a reason to get creative with your family for Valentine's Day, friends. I can promise you it will be lots of fun and sooo worth the trouble.
