SISTER CLARA PASCHALL...
Today in church, Bro. Ward was talking of Heaven...and made mention of a lady who I knew growing up. She was a town character who attended our church faithfully. No kid really knew her story...she always referred to the person she was talking to as Brother or Sister...so to her I was Sister Misty.
My grandmother, MamaBill, actually went to school with her. She says as a child she wasn't the best student but that she knew her Bible even back then. My grandmother refers to people like Sister Clara as afflicted...but I am sure that is not politically correct in today's terms...so we will just leave that alone.
I remember her glasses. I remember she loved baby dolls. She bobby- pinned her hair and wore shawls and scarves around her head. I remember that she said AMEN all the time. Let me say that again...I remember her saying A-MAN REALLY LOUD! I remember her being at church every time the doors were open. And, sadly, I remember her sitting alone in the pew.
As a town character...simple, plain, folks distanced themselves...
I had not thought about Sister Clara...but an image of her in Heaven came over me and the light was so bright. It took my breath...and I weeped.
Maybe you have trouble believing in these moments...
I am thankful for her walk with God. Even though I was a kid and never knew what grown-ups thought...I knew she loved the Lord and His children.
THE HELP...
So, I have held off going to see the movie because I wanted to read the book. It came in the mail yesterday...over 400 pages...thought maybe I better just go on and watch the movie. ha
But, I started reading it...and it is a great read. I found myself laughing out loud today as I sat out on my porch. You should get a copy. It is worthy. I will let you know how it all turns out without telling you the story:)
