WOOL HOOKED RUGS...
My absolute favorite thing right now is a wool hooked primitive-look rug. I like the way they look. I like the ones that are made into pillows. I love the fall ones. I wish for the folk art look though. Funny how my decorating taste is changing. I really think I want to buy a kit and give it a try.
I used to latch hook a mean rug! haha (and I was a kid) Not to mention the pot holders I made with my weaving loom:) I even painted a sweatshirt or two with puffy paint in high school. I still have ornaments that JoMeagan and I made when she was a little girl. Once I cross-stitched my sister Micki a gift and had it framed. (she should cherish it...my one and only work of cross-stitch art. heehee)
I have a deep appreciation for things made by hand. I dream about going into a fabric store and actually making something on my own one day. It's a crying shame I never took Home Economics. I truly have no sewing skills...or cooking skills...or cleaning skills...pretty much domestic skills are missing from my bag of tricks. I am not saying I want to go back to olden days but I think a lot of the art is going to be lost. You know when Wal-Mart stops carrying fabric that is a sure sign that no one else can sew either!
So, I'm putting it on my list...TO DO...make a wool rug. No fabric or sewing machine involved. Now, it may be a 2x2 rug but I am going to learn how to do something new. But, where do I go to learn how to do this? The better question might be...who has the patience to teach me? ha
Friends, my favorite season is just around the corner. I am in the mood for some scarecrows and pumpkins around here...woohoo...I am getting sooo excited:)
